How to Make a Ringtone from Any Video or Song on iPhone
Updated · 2 min read
A funny moment from a video. Your kid saying “Mom, pick up!”. The chorus of a song you own. You can turn any of them into a ringtone right on your iPhone — no computer, no iTunes. Here's how.
How to make a ringtone from a video on iPhone
- Get the app. Download Video & Image Converter — free to try.
- Pick the video or song from Photos or the Files app. Audio files work too.
- Choose Make Ringtone and trim. Drag the handles to the best part — up to 30 seconds. Add a fade-in and fade-out so it doesn't start or stop abruptly, and give it a name.
- Export it to your iPhone's ringtones:
- iOS 26 and later: tap Export, then Use as Ringtone in the share sheet. Done.
- iOS 18: the app builds a project for GarageBand, Apple's free music app, and opens it. In GarageBand, long-press the project, tap Share, then Ringtone. The app walks you through it with pictures.
- Set it in Settings › Sounds & Haptics › Ringtone — or give it to one person only in Contacts › Edit › Ringtone.
Have a file to convert right now? It takes a few taps — and nothing is uploaded.

- Start on the hook. Calls are often answered in a few seconds, so put the best part first — skip quiet intros.
- Use a short fade-out so the loop back to the start doesn't click.
- Clean up speech. If it's a voice clip recorded outdoors, remove the background noise first.
Can I use a song from Apple Music or Spotify?
No. Streaming songs are protected and aren't stored on your device as files you can edit. Use a video you recorded, a voice memo, or an audio file you own.
